John Cockerill's Industry – Metals division designs and supplies advanced industrial equipment: reheating furnaces, surface treatment lines, rolling mills, automation systems, and more.

Your role
Within the cold steel sector, the Thermal Process Engineer – PID acts as an internal and external reference, applying expertise in process flow diagrams (P&ID) and operation of thermal installations to ensure project success, within the thermal department.
You will guarantee the consistency of process flows, equipment operating logic, and the quality of process deliverables for annealing furnaces (carbon steel, stainless steel, silicon steel).
You may also take on the role of process engineer for one or more projects.
You will work closely with the thermal engineering team and particularly with the functional description manager to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable furnace operation.
Your responsibilities
Define process architectures for annealing furnaces
Ensure installation safety through active participation in HAZOP analyses
Develop and update P&ID diagrams (Process & Instrumentation Diagrams)
Specify process equipment: valves, sensors, heat exchangers, burners, cooling systems, etc.
Collaborate with instrumentation, automation, mechanical, and thermal engineering teams
Draft key process documents: operating philosophy, equipment lists, safety matrices
Participate in design reviews and technical meetings with customers
Support pre-projects in defining process solutions
Conduct technology watch on developments in thermal processes and control systems
Contribute to standardization of process solutions and knowledge capitalization
Profile
Technical skills:
Engineering degree or PhD in Process Engineering, Electromechanics, or equivalent
Proven knowledge of annealing furnace or thermal treatment furnace operation
Experience in creating, managing, and using P&IDs for complex processes
Knowledge of process safety standards (ATEX, SIL, HAZOP, etc.) is an asset
Knowledge of instrumentation is an asset
Software skills: PlantPID, AutoCAD, MS Office Suite
Proficiency in French and professional English
