Euro NCAP | The European New Car Assessment Programme
The Position
The Commercial Vehicle Programme Manager supports the development of the Commercial Vehicle programme, including the current LCV and HGV rating initiatives. The Manager will be responsible for planning, test delivery, results compilation and the hand-over to the publication team. The Commercial Vehicle Manager is also a spokesperson for Euro NCAP ensuring the programme’s continued independence and scientific credibility.
The Commercial Vehicle Programme Manager reports directly to the Strategy Director and works closely with the Technical Director, and the Financial and the Communication teams.
The job content
1. Working with the Strategy Director to support the further development and implementation of the ongoing HGV and LCV rating programmes.
· Planning and coordinating Working Group Meetings relevant to the Commercial Vehicle Programme including Steering Committee, Technical Working Group Meetings and Industry Liaison Meetings.
· Taking minutes of the above meetings and circulating and publishing in a timely manner.
· Planning and arranging other relevant working groups, research tests and workshops as required, liaising with consultants, OEMs and labs where required.
· Working with the Technical Director and Team, support the development of future Commercial Vehicle test and assessment protocols
· Drafting of required test and assessment protocols and rating procedures.
· Providing input for business planning (expected rating tests, laboratory pricing etc.).
2. Integrating of current programmes on vans and trucks into the Commercial Vehicle Programme.
· Delivering the HGV and LCV annual test programmes including liaison with the manufacturers, the identification and agreement of the appropriate vehicles, logistics, members and test lab interaction and delivery of test data and visual material according to agreed protocols.
· Integrating current programmes on vans and trucks into the Commercial Vehicle Programme aligning test and assessment documentation, procedures, dashboard implementation and communication requirements with the existing Passenger Car Programme.
· Working with contract administration to develop sponsor standardised quotations and contracts.
· Liaising with the (Passenger Car) Senior Programme Manager to ensure alignment with other programmes to manage resources and avoid bottlenecks.
3. Supporting internal and external communication related to the Commercial Vehicles Assessment programmes
· Providing support to Euro NCAP’s communications, e.g. press releases, (written) interviews, consumer questions, conference presentations, workshops, etc., including replying to queries from public/journalists/manufacturers and related communication questions on ongoing test programme and results.
· Supporting the organisation's internal and external communication on test results and technical and market developments.
· Ensuring that the industry is well informed about the upcoming requirements and test programmes.
· Liaising with other external stakeholders, e.g. members, labs, the automotive industry and other stakeholders such as sister NCAPS, European Commission, UN, road safety associations and other interest groups.
4. Aiding the development and implementation of future programmes highlighted in the Strategic Roadmap, i.e. Bus and Coach Safety and Safety Assurance for Shared and Autonomous Mobility
· Support the delivery of protocols and supporting information as per the strategic roadmap. Providing feedback and input for roadmap iterations.
· Aid the development and implementation of future additions into the existing Commercial Vehicle Programme should the Board decide to develop the organisation in these areas.
Technical competences
Required education and experience
Educated to ordinary degree level in Engineering or similar scientific doctrine. Three years’ experience in Commercial Vehicles – whether vans, trucks or buses and have experience in research, vehicle design and engineering or commercial vehicle operation.
Proven ability and experience in planning and liaison with external partners and organisations.
Technical knowledge
Deep understanding of vehicle safety technology.
Software and applications
Necessary IT skills using common PC programmes, Office applications
Language skills
Good knowledge of English in speaking and writing. Other European languages and Chinese an advantage
Additional skills
Heavy Vehicle Class C+E licence an advantage
