Chief accountant

For a well-established and leading technical services company based in the north of Brussels, we are currently looking for an Accounting Manager / Accounting Team Leader .

This role is ideal for a Senior Accountant with solid people management experience who is ready to step into a broader leadership role, or for an experienced Accounting Team Leader looking for a new challenge.

Your Responsibilities

Accounting & Reporting

• Ensure the accurate and timely processing of all financial data within the general ledger and integrated sub-ledgers (accounts receivable, accounts payable, cost centers and projects)
• Prepare the full monthly balance sheet and income statement
• Manage monthly, quarterly and annual closings
• Oversee VAT returns and other tax obligations, ensuring accuracy and compliance
• Coordinate and prepare internal and external audits
• Manage relationships with banks and oversee cash management activities, including guarantee requests
• Take full ownership of the General Ledger (GL) area

Leadership & Collaboration

• Lead, coach and develop a team of 5 accounting professionals
• Organize workload and set priorities within the team
• Work closely with other departments such as Procurement, HR and Controlling
• Actively contribute to the optimization and digitalization of accounting processes
• Advise the Finance Manager and support the implementation of financial policies

Your Profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar accounting role
• Proven experience in people management (team supervision, coaching, development)
• Strong knowledge of Belgian accounting standards; IFRS knowledge is a plus
• Excellent command of MS Office, especially Excel
• Experience with SAP and/or FIRST is an advantage

Languages (Critical Requirement)

• Fluent in French
• Fluent in Dutch
• Good working knowledge of English
