We're looking for a Senior Network Security Engineer to join our client's cybersecurity team and take ownership of securing complex, business-critical network infrastructures. This is a high-impact role where you will design, strengthen, and future-proof network security across on-premises and cloud environments while acting as a technical leader within the team.
Our client operates in a demanding and evolving IT landscape where resilience, performance, and security are paramount. As a senior expert, you will play a key role in defining security standards, responding to incidents, and guiding both technical and non-technical stakeholders toward robust and sustainable solutions.
Role & Responsibilities
Design and implement network security strategies to protect against cyber threats and unauthorized access
Configure, maintain, and optimize firewalls, VPNs, proxies (forward & reverse), and load balancers
Secure hybrid and cloud environments, including protection of data in transit and at rest, and implementation of secure access models such as ZTNA
Monitor network activity continuously to detect, analyze, and respond to security incidents
Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
Manage routing and network infrastructure components (routers, switches, WiFi, ISP connections, Express Route, DNS, TACACS)
Lead incident response efforts, threat analysis, and vulnerability remediation
Automate network and security tasks using scripting to enhance operational efficiency
Provide advanced technical support and collaborate closely with infrastructure, development, and business teams
Contribute to the definition of security standards, protocols, and cryptographic best practices
Technical Expertise
Strong foundation in network management and routing principles (dynamic, static, inter-domain routing)
Deep expertise in network security technologies (firewalls, VPN, proxy, load balancing)
Solid understanding of cloud security and secure access architectures
Experience in incident detection, response, and remediation
Automation and scripting capabilities for operational improvement
Knowledge of operating systems commonly used in enterprise network environments
Understanding of security standards and cryptographic protocols
Continuous learning mindset; professional certifications in network and security domains are considered a strong asset
Profile & Soft Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with the ability to deliver pragmatic solutions
Clear communicator capable of translating complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences
Leadership ability, mentoring junior team members and sharing expertise

Languages
French or Dutch: excellent level
