Proposal Engineer

We are currently recruiting a Proposal Engineer on behalf of one of our clients, a key player in the defense industry, to strengthen their proposal and bidding team. This role is pivotal in supporting the preparation of technical and commercial offers for complex and strategic international defense projects.

Your responsibilities

1. Analyzing specifications

• Review customer requirements and assess the company’s ability to meet them.
• Identify key technical and commercial points.
• Prepare summary documents to guide bid development.
• Contribute to the technical and commercial strategy with department heads.

2. Risk and opportunity analysis

• Identify and document technical and commercial risks.
• Propose mitigation and avoidance strategies.

3. Market analysis

• Study defense programs and customer needs.
• Research available equipment, technologies, and suppliers.
• Define the project’s supply boundaries.

4. Bid preparation

• Plan and coordinate the preparation of offers.
• Collaborate with internal teams (Commercial, Finance, Engineering, Quality, Project Management).
• Develop and verify cost estimates.
• Prepare technical and commercial proposals for management approval.

5. Support for negotiations

• Assist in preparing and participating in technical and commercial discussions with clients.

6. Customer and partner follow-up

• Maintain good communication and relationships with clients and external partners.

7. Standardization and continuous improvement

• Participate in standardization efforts.
• Propose innovative or alternative technical solutions to increase project competitiveness.

Your Profile

• Degree in engineering, business, marketing, or similar field.
• Solid technical understanding of complex products.
• Fluent in French and English (other languages are an asset).
• Good knowledge of contractual, financial, and legal aspects (financing, credit, risks).
• Strong command of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, MS Project); experience with SAP or Baan is a plus.
• Autonomous, responsible, and capable of leading teams.
• Discreet and able to handle confidential information.
• Team player with good communication and organizational skills.
