Freelance Azure Cloud Engineer - Greenfield Project - Hybrid - Long Term
We are seeking a skilled Freelance Azure Cloud Engineer to design, build, and deploy a new Azure cloud environment as part of a greenfield migration initiative. This role involves creating cloud foundations from scratch, defining best practices, and supporting the migration of applications and workloads from on-premises or legacy platforms into Azure. You will work closely with architects, security teams, and application owners to deliver a secure, scalable, and modern cloud platform.
Responsibilities
- Build and configure a greenfield Azure landing zone following Microsoft best practices.
- Design and implement core Azure services including VNets, subnets, NSGs, routing, and connectivity.
- Support identity and access management using Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and RBAC.
- Support and execute migrations from on-premises or legacy environments to Azure.
- Deploy and configure Azure compute, storage, and networking services.
- Assist in re-hosting, re-platforming, or modernising applications.
- Implement Azure security controls including MFA, Conditional Access, NSGs, Azure Firewall, and monitoring.
- Apply governance standards using Azure Policy, tagging, and cost management.
- Support compliance and security best practices from day one.
- Automate infrastructure deployment using Infrastructure as Code (ARM, Bicep, Terraform).
- Support CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise Azure workloads using Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
