Jira and Confluence Implementation Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant to guide our organization through the technical setup and functional adoption of Atlassian Jira and Confluence. This role requires a blend of hands-on configuration expertise and excellent communication skills to ensure a seamless transition and maximize user value.

Key Responsibilities and Technical Skills (The "Hands-On" Expert) - Revised Section

System Setup & Administration:

Lead the end-to-end technical installation, configuration, and administration of Jira (Software, Service Management, and/or Work Management) and Confluence instances.

Configure complex workflows, permission schemes, notification schemes, issue types, and custom fields to align with diverse business processes.

Manage user directories, groups, and permissions, integrating with existing identity management systems (e.g., Active Directory, SSO) as required.

Integration with Other Jira Instances:

Design and implement strategies for integrating and synchronizing data between multiple Jira instances (e.g., using federated search, synchronization apps like Exalate or Backbone, or custom APIs).

Configure Issue Collectors and external share settings to facilitate seamless cross-instance communication and data flow.

Establish governance and best practices for linked issues and distributed teams working across different Jira environments.

Performance & Governance:

Establish best practices for platform governance, maintenance, and performance optimization.

Conduct regular health checks and provide recommendations for system improvement and scalability.

Manage and test app/add-on installation and compatibility across the Atlassian suite.

Reporting & Dashboards:

Design and configure effective Jira dashboards, filters, and advanced reporting mechanisms (including JQL) to provide key insights to management and teams.

Requirements Elicitation:

Act as a bridge between technical possibilities and business needs, engaging with stakeholders across various departments (e.g., IT, Marketing, Development).

Conduct workshops and interviews to clearly define user stories, process flows, and requirements for Jira project configurations and Confluence space structures.

Process Design & Mapping:

Provide expert guidance on best practices for using Jira for different methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, ITIL) and tailoring these to the client's specific organizational culture and needs.

Design logical and intuitive Confluence spaces, templates, and information architecture that promote effective knowledge sharing and documentation.

Training & Documentation:

Develop and deliver tailored training materials and sessions for different user groups (e.g., basic users, project administrators, system owners).

Create comprehensive, accessible documentation covering the implemented configurations, standards, and usage guidelines.

Adoption & Change Management:

Champion the new platforms, driving user adoption by addressing concerns, demonstrating value, and providing post-launch support.

Implement a clear change management strategy to minimize disruption during the transition phase.
