Cyber Security Engineer

One of our leading enterprise clients are seeking a skilled Cyber Security Engineer to design, implement, and maintain advanced security solutions that protect their hybrid cloud and on-premise environments. You will work at the forefront of Belgium’s cybersecurity landscape, ensuring compliance with ISO 27001, NIS2, and GDPR, while strengthening our overall security posture.

You will collaborate closely with infrastructure, cloud, SOC, and compliance teams to prevent, detect, and respond to cyber threats across our systems, networks, and applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain security controls across cloud (Azure, AWS) and on-prem infrastructures.
• Configure, manage, and optimise security tools such as firewalls, EDR/XDR platforms, SIEM (Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk), and IAM/PAM solutions.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation activities with relevant teams.
• Develop and enforce security baselines and hardening guidelines for systems, networks, and endpoints.
• Integrate security monitoring with incident response playbooks.
• Work with SOC analysts to tune detection rules and reduce false positives.
• Support identity and access management initiatives, including privileged access governance.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (NIS2, ISO 27001, GDPR) and internal policies.
• Participate in security architecture reviews for new projects and applications.
• Contribute to security awareness programs and provide technical guidance to internal teams.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3–5+ years of experience in a Cyber Security Engineer or similar technical security role.
• Strong knowledge of network security, firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and secure network design.
• Hands-on experience with SIEM platforms (Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk, QRadar).
• Proficiency in endpoint protection (Defender for Endpoint, CrowdStrike, SentinelOne) and email security (Defender for Office 365, Proofpoint).
• Familiarity with cloud security in Azure and/or AWS, including security policies and monitoring.
• Understanding of identity security (Microsoft Entra ID, Azure AD, PAM solutions like CyberArk or BeyondTrust).
• Solid grasp of security frameworks and regulations (NIS2, ISO 27001, GDPR).
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Fluent in English; Dutch and/or French is a strong plus.
