School Principal


Full Time Academic Principal and MYP coordinator - Montgomery International School, Brussels.
MIS is a successful and growing international school in Brussels, Belgium for students from ages Our school has approximately 210 students. Our family-sized campus and classes provide an optimal teaching and learning environment. Our staff come from all over the world, with international experience, and you would join a small, dynamic and collaborative team with a hands-on approach to learning.

The ideal candidate will be:

A university degree in education/pedagogy and or other related fields.
Teaching experience, preferably in an international setting and programme.
Previous middle or high level leadership experience is an advantage.
Job description:
The role will include 4 hours of teaching per week.
Reports to: Head of School
Academic Principal
In collaboration with the Head of school and Pastoral Principal, is responsible for :
● Recruitment and induction of new staff members.
● Supporting the Admissions team by participating in relevant steps of the admissions process.
● Staff professional growth and evaluation.
● Preparing and implementing strategic plans and IB development plans.
● Organising/coordinating various school events (exhibitions, school plays, etc..) and presentations.
● Maintaining clear, open, and regular communication with parents, addressing any concerns or inquiries.
● Developing a strong school image and collaborative relations with the local community and other organisations.
●Planning and leading teachers' collaborative planning time, faculty meetings and professional development days.
● Leading the pedagogical team (IB coordinators), ensuring that the IB standards and practices are met.
Tasks specific to the Academic Principal:
● Developing, updating and implementing school and IB academic policies, ensuring they are aligned with IB standards and practices and the school's mission and guiding principles.
● Overseeing through-school curriculum planning and implementation.
● Overseeing and coordinating examination sessions.
●Overseeing the master scheduling, ensuring that the schedulers optimise resources and maintain balanced workloads for staff. This also includes coordinating the sports scheduling.
● Support PYP coordinator with any escalating academic matters.
MYP coordinator:
Documentation:
● Ensures that copies of IB publications pertaining to the MYP section of the school are available to and communicated to all relevant staff members.
● Ensures all curriculum requirements are met and appropriately documented (subject and interdisciplinary unit plans, vertical/horizontal meetings etc.) as well as assessment standardisation.
● Creates and coordinates MYP IB development plans
● Responsible for ensuring that IB standards & practices are met and understood by the team and the community.
● Coordinates, plans and organises for a successful 5 year IB evaluation of the programme.
●Updates all print and web-based materials related to the MYP Programme, writes articles for the newsletter or magazines, in collaboration with the Marketing and Admissions Manager.
● Reviews and adjusts school MYP policies, and ensures that they are implemented appropriately.
● Manages the MYP section on Managebac (e.g.reporting)
Professional Development:
● Oversees the teachers' professional growth and development along with the rest of the senior leadership team.
● Ensures teachers collaborate and develop their professional skills by planning and leading meaningful professional learning communities and opportunities (e.g. faculty meetings, PD days, etc.)
● Ensures training requirements are met for the 5-year evaluation visit and keeps a record of workshop attendance and certificates.
● Assists teams or individuals in developing units or other MYP requirements.
● Provide induction training for new MYP teachers.
Resource Management:
● Coordinate the purchase and inventory of suitable resources to support the implementation of the programme.
Communication & Leadership:
● Works collaboratively with parents, education specialists and other partner organisations.
● Organises surveys and focus groups to gather feedback from community members
● Organises presentations and workshops for parents to develop their understanding of the MYP.
● Coordinates MYP field trips and overnight trip plans
● Responsible for student reviews, communication with the Learning Support Teacher and family to ensure an adequate plan is prepared and support is given.
● Supports the scheduler with internal examination organisation and to ensure that the MYP schedule meets IB requirements.
● Supervises the MYP core programme to ensure core time is optimally used and that student progress is monitored. Ensure that uploading of PPs is smooth and on time. Analyse PP results with the PP coordinator.
● Collaborates with the IB coordinators to ensure a smooth transition from PYP to MYP and from MYP to DP.
● Effectively communicates issues of malpractice to students and ​​parents in collaboration with relevant members.
● Contributes to budget creation and manages the MYP budgets.

We offer:
Monthly salary range: 4300€-4800€ gross
