Project Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join a strategic, long-term (3-year) data transformation program. The role focuses on designing, building, and optimizing scalable data platforms using Azure ecosystem technologies, with a strong emphasis on Databricks and Microsoft Fabric. The consultant will play a key role in modernizing the enterprise data landscape, enabling advanced analytics, business intelligence, and data-driven decision-making across the organization. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data architectures. Implement and optimize solutions using Azure Databricks (Spark, PySpark, Delta Lake). Develop and manage solutions within Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Dataflows, Pipelines, Warehousing). Build robust ETL/ELT processes using Azure-native services. Collaborate with data architects, BI developers, and business stakeholders. Ensure data quality, reliability, governance, and performance optimization. Implement CI/CD pipelines for data solutions. Provide technical leadership and mentor junior data engineers. Contribute to architectural decisions and best practices. Required Technical Skills Must-Have 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer. Strong hands-on experience with Azure Databricks. Proven experience with Microsoft Fabric (including Lakehouse & Data Factory components). Solid experience with: PySpark / Spark SQL (advanced level) Delta Lake Experience with Azure Data Services (Data Factory, Synapse, ADLS). Data modeling experience (medallion architecture preferred). Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines. Strong understanding of data governance and security in Azure. Nice to Have Experience with Power BI integration within Fabric. Experience with streaming technologies. Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM). Experience in large-scale enterprise environments. Language Requirements Fluent in Flemish (Dutch)– spoken and written (mandatory). Professional English proficiency – spoken and written (mandatory). Soft Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams. Proactive, solution-oriented attitude. Experience in stakeholder management.
