About the role

We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer for a 6–12 month freelance assignment in the area of South Gent. You will support engineering projects within a food production environment, with a strong focus on hands-on problem solving, supplier management, and the practical execution of civil, mechanical, and electrical works. Work includes CIP-related processes, troubleshooting, and coordinating multidisciplinary project activities.

AutoCAD is the core engineering tool for this role.

Responsibilities

• Assess technical situations and design effective engineering solutions
• Manage suppliers, timelines, and project budgets
• Coordinate and engineer civil, mechanical, and electrical project scopes (and some camera systems)
• Prepare working permits and ensure safety compliance
• Troubleshoot issues on-site and determine optimal supplier solutions

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Project Engineer in industrial or food production environments
• Strong background in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering
• Proficient in AutoCAD
• Experience with food processing systems; CIP knowledge is a strong plus
• Hands-on mindset, able to work autonomously in a dynamic setting
