We are seeking a Senior Privacy Officer (Freelance) for a high-impact, 4-month project in Brussels. This is your opportunity to drive privacy and data protection excellence for our client, shaping the future of youth care data governance at scale.

Why This Role Matters

Our client is facing a critical challenge: ensuring full compliance with privacy regulations (including GDPR) in the context of complex youth care data flows. Following a regulatory review, the organization must deliver robust DPIAs and implement risk mitigation strategies to secure sensitive data and maintain public trust. As Senior Privacy Officer, you will be at the forefront of this mission, architecting privacy programs that protect the most vulnerable and set new standards for data protection in the sector.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead the design, implementation, and monitoring of privacy and data protection programs, with a focus on GDPR compliance.
• Prepare and deliver comprehensive Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) covering the full scope of youth care data processing.
• Abstract and map complex data flows, ensuring all processing activities are documented and compliant.
• Engage and manage stakeholders across legal, technical, and operational teams to drive privacy initiatives forward.
• Advise on risk mitigation strategies, including the drafting of new decrees or policy changes as required by regulatory bodies.
• Develop and maintain processing registers for new and existing data flows.
• Work independently to navigate complex data environments and deliver actionable privacy solutions.
• Ensure all privacy documentation and reporting meets the highest standards of clarity and regulatory rigor.

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 5 years of demonstrable experience in privacy, data protection, and GDPR compliance.
• Proven track record designing and monitoring privacy programs, including hands-on DPIA preparation.
• Expertise in abstracting and documenting complex data flows and processing activities.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and align diverse teams.
• Demonstrable experience with data processing legislation, including writing according to the 5 essential elements.
• Master's degree (demonstrable in CV).
• Demonstrable knowledge of the youth care sector is highly valued.
• Fluent Dutch at European CEFR level C2 is mandatory.
• Ability to work independently and deliver results in a complex, evolving environment.
• Freelance availability for a 4-month assignment, 50% work regime (approx. 320 hours).
• Remote work is possible, with presence in Brussels as required.
