Logistics Assistant, Emergency Reception Center St-Lambrechts-Woluwe


Intro

Millions of people are fleeing war, hunger, persecution or natural disasters. Most of them reside in third-world countries. But people also arrive in Belgium in search of a new home and a safe haven. 
At the request of the government, the Belgian Red-Cross receives refugees in a temporary emergency reception center in Sint-Lambrechts-Woluwe.
 

Job description

Together with your colleagues you are responsible for the logistic tasks in the center (managing the stocks of linen and hygiene products, monitoring the laundry,…) in order to guarantee a clean environment and to ensure that goods and services are available in a correct and efficient manner.
 
Among other tasks, you are responsible for: 

  • Preparing a set of hygiene products and linen for each person arriving at the center;
  • Managing stocks of meals, hygiene products and maintenance supplies;
  • Managing the goods and equipment in an efficient way: you select, organize and distribute the goods and equipment. You will create an inventory and ensure a minimum stock, to do so you will be placing and following up orders.
  • Performing administrative tasks: you draw up follow-up lists and inform other colleagues;
  • Carrying out other logistical tasks such as washing towels and linen, keeping the center in order;
  • Supervising an efficient service of meals and to help distribute them.
  • Supervising the safety, order and cleanliness of the building and infrastructure (appliances/installations), report possible defects and repair them if necessary;
  • Guiding and coordinating residents in the jobs they carry out.
Your profile
  • You have a secondary education degree in a humane direction and have some experience in conducting difficult conversations (you can deal with sensitive topics during thess conversations);
  • You have an interest in working with people from different cultural backgrounds;
  • You are entrepreneurial and will actively roll up your sleeves;
  • You are flexible and willing to work in a shift system (with weekend shifts);
  • You speak and understand English fluently (= the working language in the center). Any other languages are an asset.
  • You have computer skills (Word, Outlook, Excel) and are able to quickly learn internal elec-tronic monitoring systems.
  • You are empathetic and diplomatic, but you can also set clear boundaries.
  • You work in a structured way and in good consultation with your colleagues.
Our offer
  • Full-time position (38h/week);
  • Shift performance (early, day and late shifts + weekend shift (1 weekend out of 3));
  • Replacement contract;
  • Employment in an emergency reception center: duration depends on government assignment in the context of organizing emergency shelter for applicants for international protection;

    • Meal vouchers of 8 Euro per day;
    • Group insurance and possibility of joining hospitalisation insurance with personal contribu-tion;
    • Commuting by train is fully reimbursed; 75% contribution for use of other public transport (bus, tram, metro, etc.); bicycle allowance of 0.37€/km; other means of transport (car, motor-cycle, etc.) is in line with sectoral and legal regulations.
