Senior Quality Engineer


SABCA (Belgian Anonymous Company of Aeronautical Constructions) is a major player in the civil aviation and aerospace markets. Mission
You are part of a team of Supplier Quality Engineers and you are the internal focal point for all quality related matters affecting the supply chain.

You report to the Supply Quality Assurance manager and work together with the supply chain team, procurement team, program quality assurance managers and program teams.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure and maintain compliance with industry standards, customer requirements, and best practices for supplier quality.
  • Oversee quality requirements for supplier products, processes, and incoming inspections.
  • Manage supplier quality plans, contracts, and adherence to norms/standards.
  • Lead First Article Inspection (FAI) follow-up and drive APQP implementation for critical suppliers and transfers of work.
  • Validate and monitor changes impacting supplier quality.
  • Collaborate across business units, procurement, program management, and quality teams for alignment.
  • Conduct supplier audits, qualifications, and continuous monitoring of performance through KPIs.
  • Develop and drive improvement plans, RCCA, and complaint handling for non-conformities.
  • Support new supplier onboarding, workload planning, and transfer of work activities.
  • Ensure compliance with EN9100 quality and ISO 14001 environmental standards while promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

Your profile

  • Master's degree in Industrial Engineering (Electronics, Mechanics, or Materials Science) or equivalent background.
  • You have a relevant experience (minimum 5 years) in supply chain quality
  • Strong communication skills in English and French/Dutch, fostering clear collaboration across teams.
  • Proven ability to motivate teams and ensure rigor in meeting quality requirements.
  • Willingness to travel 30–50% of the time to support close supplier collaboration.
  • Practical expertise in problem-solving methodologies (8D, 5 Whys, etc.).
  • Knowledge of aerospace materials, structural components, and assembly processes.
  • Solid understanding of quality standards (AS/EN9100, ISO9001, IATF and APQP (EN9145).
  • Skilled in technical drawing interpretation and GD&T.
  • Solution-oriented team player with strong analytical, assertive, and result-driven approach.
  • Proficient in MS Office and ERP systems (SAP, S4HANA).
