SOS Children’s Villages Belgium is looking for a dedicated and sensitive volunteer to support our Child Friendly Space (CFS) project during the summer at the Fedasil reception center Klein Kasteeltje in Brussels.
This is a meaningful opportunity to contribute to a safe and therapeutic environment for young refugee children from diverse backgrounds.
About the Role:
You will work together with the main play facilitator to support children from 3 to 7 years in small group settings through free play. Each group includes a maximum of 5 children, with sessions lasting 1 hour. There are three groups per day.
Your role is to help create and maintain a calm, emotionally safe space where children can explore and express themselves freely, at their own pace, through play.
Who we’re looking for:
Individuals with experience working with young children (ages 3–7)
Students or professionals in psychology, social work, early childhood education, pedagogical sciences, or related fields
Emotionally sensitive, patient, and comfortable following the child’s lead in play
Able to support children from diverse refugee backgrounds with empathy and care
English is required; French and any other language are a plus
