The Business architect will work alongside business analysts, portfolio managers and program managers.
Key Responsibilities
- Define the target Business Architecture aligned with the department’s vision and strategy, including the identification and structuring of Business Capabilities using Capability Maps.
- Further develop and implement the organization's Information Strategy within the relevant domain:
- Identify and define Data Domains and assign Data Ownership,
- Develop Conceptual Business Information Models using standard toolkits,
- Identify the Business Capabilities required to support the target Information Architecture,
- Identify and structure business products and data products.
- Contribute to and/or lead business architecture decision-making processes at various organizational levels, e.g., providing Capability Heatmaps to guide strategic prioritization.
- Lead initiatives to define and validate Architecture Blueprints in collaboration with Domain and Solution Architects, engaging Business Stakeholders and Business Analysts to ensure suitable digital solutions.
- Ensure the alignment of the target Business Architecture with other key departments (e.g., Assets, Strategy, Infrastructure, Data Office, IT).
- Align IT architecture and roadmap with the broader Business Architecture and business roadmap.
- Actively participate in the improvement of architectural methodologies, frameworks, tools, and training programs.
- Facilitate and/or actively participate in meetings to support the successful implementation of the target business and data architecture.
- Stay current with emerging trends and best practices in architecture and technology.
Requirements
- Master's degree in civil or commercial engineering, or a scientific discipline.
- At least 5 years of proven experience in business and information architecture in a similar role.
- Service-oriented mindset with a focus on continuity.
- Strong stakeholder management skills.
- Solid expertise in developing Business Architecture frameworks and communicating them clearly to diverse stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of Domain-Driven Design (DDD).
- Familiarity with Software Integration Patterns, platform technologies, Data Warehouses, Data Lakes, and Data Meshes to effectively collaborate with IT teams.
- Experience in modeling languages such as UML, BPMN, and Archimate is a must.
- Analytical thinker with excellent communication skills.
- Proactive, autonomous, and capable of leading cross-functional initiatives.
- Fluency in French and Dutch, with strong English skills for international collaboration.
