Freelance HSE Officer – Pharmaceutical Cleanroom Project

Contract: 12 months

Location: Ghent, Belgium

Start date: February 2026

Rate: Competitive daily rate

We are looking for an experienced freelance HSE Officer to support a new cleanroom project within the pharmaceutical sector. This role will cover construction, installation and commissioning phases and will be site-based in Ghent.

Key responsibilities include:

• Ensuring HSE compliance in line with legislation, GMP and project standards
• Conducting site inspections, audits and risk assessments
• Reviewing RAMS, permits to work and contractor activities
• Delivering HSE inductions and toolbox talks
• Supporting incident reporting and investigations
• Acting as the main HSE point of contact on site

Required experience and skills:

• Proven HSE experience on pharmaceutical, biotech or cleanroom projects
• Strong knowledge of construction safety and GMP environments
• Ability to work independently in a project-driven setting
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• English essential; Dutch and Portuguese highly desirable

Qualifications:

• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
