Technical Product Manager

At Swave Photonics, we’re not just imagining the future — we’re engineering it. We're a fabless semiconductor company pioneering holographic chips based on our proprietary diffractive photonics technology. Our mission is to empower display manufacturers and system innovators to leap forward with ultra-high-resolution, true holographic displays.

Imagine a world where digital content floats in front of your eyes, where digital interactions are seamlessly integrated into your surroundings, and AR glasses amplify your senses with real-time AI intelligence — all while being light, fashionable, and personalized to you. That’s the future we’re building. Join us at the forefront of this revolution.

To help realize this vision, we're hiring a Technical Product Manager (TPM). This person will be instrumental in guiding our most strategic product offerings and driving their integration across full AR display systems.

Role and responsibilities:

You will be Swave’s product owner for our core chip technologies and their system-level implementation, working hand-in-hand with R&D, optics, packaging, and system integration teams. You will ensure our solutions are technically outstanding, market-aligned, and future-proof.

  • Own the product lifecycle of our SLM/HPU chipsets from early market research to roadmap definition, spec refinement, development oversight, and customer integration support.

  • Define product requirements based on deep understanding of end-user needs, market trends, and competitive analysis, with a particular focus on AI/AR glasses as our flagship application.

  • Translate feedback from customers, field teams and design partners into clear, actionable product specifications and engineering deliverables.

  • Work across the full system stack, understanding how chip-level decisions impact optical engines, combiner modules, system thermals, application processors, and battery budgets.

  • Collaborate closely with the Chief Product Officer, product, and Go-to-Market leadership, co-owning decision-making in a highly strategic, collaborative relationship.

  • Align development milestones via agile workflows, using Jira and other tools to drive transparency and momentum.

  • Track the global competitive landscape to refine our positioning and anticipate technology inflections.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Delivery of clear, validated Market Requirements and Product Requirement Documents for Swave’s Products and solutions.

  • Alignment of internal teams and stakeholders around roadmap, specs, and trade-offs.

  • Strategic insight and leadership that drives Swave’s position in the AR smartglasses market, not just chip-level, but system-wide, to obtain critical design wins and significant market share.

  • Whole product completeness that accelerates design wins with compelling and defensible margin with top-tier AI/AR and display customers.

Qualifications:

  • A technical degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD) in electronics engineering, photonics, or a related field.

  • 8+ years of product management experience in semiconductors, displays, optics, or a related systems industry.

  • A solid grasp of complex system architectures — you enjoy tracing interactions from silicon all the way to system behavior.

  • A collaborative mindset — you are strategic, but humble, decisive yet curious. You work well with execs, engineers, and external stakeholders alike.

  • A comfort with ambiguous and evolving environments — we are growing fast and so will your scope.

  • Experience working with (or helping implement) Agile methodologies, and using tools like Jira.

  • Excellent written and spoken English.

What we offer you:

  • A competitive compensation package tailored to your experience, knowledge and impact.

  • An environment where you will work at the cutting edge, alongside pioneers in chip design, compute, diffractive optics, physics and semiconductors, backed by seasoned leaders and engineers with decades of industry experience.

  • A direct line to leadership and a high level of autonomy to drive product strategy.

  • An informal and vibrant company culture built on authenticity, mutual trust, openness, purpose, and creativity. We’re a small team with big dreams and a bias for action that knows how to celebrate the wins.

  • Flexibility and a results-driven culture give you space to work — and live — at your best.

Location:

Our headquarters are in the vibrant city of Leuven, Belgium. While the magic happens on-site, some remote work options are available.

If you are ready to help shape the most exciting future in display technology and to work on the deep tech that will make it happen, we would love to hear from you!
