Head of Operational Excellence


Are you passionate about linking operational performance with structured process improvement? As Head of Operational Excellence, you will be the driving force behind our continuous improvement initiatives in one of the most demanding automotive logistics environments in Europe. You will take the lead in designing and implementing quality-driven processes that boost efficiency, secure delivery reliability, and reinforce our operational backbone. This role offers a unique opportunity to work both hands-on and strategically with improvement initiatives that directly impact our service to Volvo Cars.

Responsibilities

  • Lead improvement projects focused on delivery accuracy, operational efficiency, and robust process design (using methods such as 5S, FMEA, SPC, Six Sigma, etc.);
  • Act as quality ambassador by driving root cause analyses and implementing preventive and corrective actions;
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams across warehouse, production, and quality to implement LEAN practices;
  • Standardize and document work instructions, operational routines, and quality procedures;
  • Analyze performance data and translate insights into concrete, long-term improvements;
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement across all levels of the organization;
  • Act as strategic sparring partner to the Site Manager and operational leadership team.


Function Requirements

  • A degree in Engineering (Logistics, Quality, or Industrial Engineering) or equivalent;
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a warehouse/logistics environment, ideally in a 3PL setting;
  • Solid knowledge of quality tools and methods: 8D, FMEA, SPC, Six Sigma, etc.;
  • Experience implementing LEAN or continuous improvement programs in high-volume logistics operations;
  • Strong analytical mindset and data-driven approach to problem solving;
  • Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English; French is a plus;
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and manage change in complex environments;
  • Hands-on mentality with a strategic vision – you get things done, but always with the bigger picture in mind;
  • You live in Belgium or are willing to travel to Ghent.
