Business Development Manager


Van Bael & Bellis (VBB), an international law firm with headquarters in Brussels, is looking for a Business Development (BD) Manager to help shape the development and implementation of our BD strategy with a focus on our Corporate and Commercial practice. This person will be based in our Brussels office.

Job description:

  • Providing support to various partners and practices, with a focus on [Belgian] Corporate and Commercial
  • Support the Head of Business Development in the development and implementation of BD/marketing processes, resources and strategies
  • Progress these strategies for the Corporate and Commercial practices to increase cross-practice collaboration and client revenue
  • Building and maintaining collaborative relationships, internally and externally, at all levels
  • Conduct market/client analysis, monitor external trends and use insights to recommend data-driven practice strategies
  • Support the overall working of the BD/Marketing team


Job requirements:

Need to have:

  • 3-5 years’ experience across the full range of business development/marketing activities including preparing pitches and legal directory submissions
  • Experience in developing practice and/or individual partner business plans
  • Ability to collaborate and build strong relationships across multiple teams in a multicultural environment
  • Curiosity and driven to learn
  • Exceptional organisational, oral and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail, commitment to excellence, solutions-oriented approach, able to handle multiple competing projects and deliver to tight deadlines
  • Experience in BD in partner-led organisations, preference given to law firm experience
  • Working levels of English, Dutch and French

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of the [Belgian] Corporate and Commercial sectors
  • Experience in leveraging marketing technology and data tools for BD insights
  • Experience in organising and promoting client events and other profile-raising activities
