Mechanical Design Engineer

🌍 Mechanical Design Engineer – Energy Sector | Kortrijk Region, Belgium

We are currently looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development of mechanical systems and components for energy-related applications. Based in the Kortrijk region, this role is ideal for someone with a strong engineering background, hands-on design experience, and an interest in contributing to the future of sustainable energy technologies.

🔩 Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for energy systems (e.g. power generation units, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, or structural frameworks)
• Produce detailed 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings using software such as SolidWorks, Creo, or Inventor
• Perform engineering calculations, material selection, and tolerance analysis to ensure functionality, durability, and manufacturability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, project managers, and suppliers to align on design specifications and timelines
• Support prototyping, testing, and validation of mechanical systems, including root cause analysis and iteration
• Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g. ASME, ISO) and safety regulations relevant to energy systems

🎓 Profile:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• 2+ years of experience in mechanical design, ideally within the energy, industrial, or manufacturing sector
• Proficient in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred); experience with PDM systems is a plus
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles, manufacturing processes, and material properties
• Ability to read and create technical documentation in Dutch and/or English; French is an asset
• Analytical mindset with a pragmatic, hands-on approach
