Freelance Data Architect Microsoft Fabric

The Challenge

Are you a seasoned Data Architect who can confidently balance hands-on tasks, strategic thinking, and user enablement? We’re looking for a freelance Data Architect with deep expertise in Microsoft Fabric to help stabilize and mature the new data platform at our client through the end of the year – and potentially beyond.

The Mission

This is a unique opportunity to take ownership in a high-impact project. You will be the technical and organizational anchor for the platform during this critical phase. You’ll have the freedom to shape how the platform is used, introduce standards, and support teams across the organization – all while working with modern technologies and practices.

  • Stabilize the platform: Ensure Microsoft Fabric is running smoothly and meeting business needs during the rollout phase.
  • Define standards & best practices: Create clear guidelines and documentation for how the new platform should be used and maintained.
  • Guide & coach users: Support business and technical users as they onboard onto Fabric, providing training, answering questions, and helping them succeed.
  • Stakeholder collaboration: Act as a bridge between developers, end users, and business stakeholders.
  • Streamline CI/CD pipelines: Assess and rationalize current pipelines to ensure efficiency, scalability, and alignment with platform standards.
  • Hands-on engineering: Dive into technical work when needed – building, optimizing, and maintaining data pipelines and models.

Your Skills

  • Proven experience as a Data Architect, with a strong foundation in cloud-based data platforms.
  • Deep knowledge of Microsoft Fabric and relevant Azure services.
  • Knowledge of DBT and PowerBI is a plus.
  • Strong experience in defining and implementing technical standards and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and support users, both technical and non-technical.
  • Able to navigate between different teams and stakeholders with ease.
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Pragmatic, solution-oriented, and results-driven.
  • You have an entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for innovation and business growth.
  • You speak fluent English and either Dutch or French.
